Touring the Vista Mar Development

By Oliver Wolfe

One of the more difficult aspects of working in real estate is dealing with pre-conceived notions, both in buyers and in real estate consultants.  Just as a great meal at a nearby restaurant can inflate your opinion of a neighborhood, a rainy day during a tour can lead you to blow off what otherwise would be your ideal home.  And while it can seem like a grind, we always recommend that potential buyers look into areas and property types that they otherwise would have written off.

Last week, a group of us traveled just up the beach from Coronado to tour the booming development community at Vista Mar.  As part of our continuing effort to keep up with the Pacific Coast developments here in Panama, we are constantly stopping by and checking in with different projects to see their progress and document any new items they may have to offer.

Sales and Marketing Executive Michael Flora showed us around the development.  Centered on a sprawling, pristine golf course, Vista Mar has a plethora of options for any price range or style desired.

We started our tour by driving through the soon-to-be-opened back nine holes.  With ocean views in the distance, the green hills of the course take you over lakes and a gully, and look to provide a satisfying challenge to any golfer.  While the front nine are playable now, the back nine will not open to the public until just after the New Year.

After driving through the golf course, Michael took us through several developer houses and condos.  We saw single-family homes, small mansions on the ocean, condos perfect for rental investments and junior penthouses great for an executive.  There are pre-built and pre-sale properties for sale at all sorts of price ranges.

Groupo Shahani, the developer, also has a productive “affiliate” program, where they will create a joint-venture sub-development along with another company.  As a result, there are several other projects and investment choices coming up inside of Vista Mar.  I pack all of this into one paragraph to make a point:

Michael Flora talks with us about the social area of Vista Mar

Vista Mar has almost every type of property you could be interested in, and not seeing what it has to offer is not doing your due diligence.

I am not saying that Vista Mar is perfect for you, or even that it is necessarily the best value for what you want.  But, the development has a large set of offerings, and for many potential buyers I can see Vista Mar being a great fit.

We closed our tour with a lunch at Vista Mar’s fantastic French cuisine restaurant.  One of the best, high-class dining options in the Pacific beach area, Terrazas del Mar also has a delicious lunch menu.  As we sat there looking over the ocean and enjoying our meals, I could not help but smile a bit at how great life is here in Panama.
